WEEK 13
Assalamualaikum w.b.t
Actually the proposal presentation was in Week 12, but it is postponed to this week. So in this week, I’ve made a powerpoint presentation slide for my project. Firstly, I’ve made the slide in early week 10. Then, I showed the slide to my supervisor. After checking my slide, my supervisor ask me to make a few corrections before the presentation.
This is my first slide.
I was assessed by two lecturers from Medical Electronics section which are Sir Shah Rizaili and Sir Roslee. Alhamdulillah the presentation went well. There are a few suggestion made by the assessor to improve my project. In sha Allah I will do my best in order to produce a good project.

WEEK 8
BLOCK DIAGRAM
The block diagram shows that project have three main part. For the first part is input part. In this part the sensor will be the main component to get the reading from the human skin resistance. For this part is the process the input will be reading before send it into microprocessor. The second part is the micro-controller part, which is the controller for the data input from the sensor before give the real output. In this part include the amplifier for the input sensor, because the sometimes the reading from the sensor very small and cannot amplified with microprocessor part. For the last part is the output for this project. In the planning the output will shows in dashboard. In this part the Electronic car unit is the main component to success this project. Its because the Electronic car unit functions to detect the output from the microprocessor before give the response (alert message). The Electronic car unit also functions send the message to the third party such as the hospital, police station and medical center. This all is quick review for this project.

WEEK 7
METHODOLOGY
Thank you
This is the block diagram of my project after discussing with my supervisor. The hardware (project design) need to be configured to allow all the process happened. Start will be doing the literature review about all related in my project. Furthermore, is about the Galvanic Skin Resistor Sensor (implant to wheel steering) detecting the human body process and then the process will decide using arduino/microprocessor .If on the arduino/microprocessor communicated to do the next process, it will be proceed to Electronic Car Unit to next process. Finally for my output the is about the signal maybe implant to dashboard. The signal can be the process to slow down the car besides send the massage to 3rd party such as the hospitals or police stations.

WEEK 6
ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT
What does the ECU do?
The ECU is responsible for monitoring all aspects of engine operation, making adjustments based on driver input, and more. It reads the amount of airflow entering the engine to adjust the throttle and it controls the Check Engine Light (at least partially). It also manages ignition timing, idle speed, variable valve timing, electronic valve control and more. Information is sent to the ECU from sensors located throughout the engine bay that do everything from measuring coolant temperature to camshaft position. In short, the ECU has a huge impact on your vehicle’s operation, including everything from the available power to emissions control. Enjoy the video for more details informations.
Thank you.

What is Engine control unit ?
In automotive electronics, Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is a generic term for any embedded system that controls one or more of the electrical system or subsystems in a transport vehicle.
Types of ECU include Electronic/engine Control Module (ECM), Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Transmission Control Module (TCM), Brake Control Module (BCM or EBCM), Central Control Module (CCM), Central Timing Module (CTM), General Electronic Module (GEM), Body Control Module (BCM), Suspension Control Module (SCM), control unit, or control module. Taken together, these systems are sometimes referred to as the car's G.U.I. (Technically there is no single computer but multiple ones.) Sometimes one assembly incorporates several of the individual control modules (PCM is often both engine and transmission).
Examples of such ECUs include:
- Door control unit (DCU)
- Engine control unit (ECU) — not to be confused with electronic control unit, the generic term for all these devices
- Electric Power Steering Control Unit (PSCU) — Generally this will be integrated into the EPS powerpack.
- Human-machine interface (HMI)
- Powertrain control module (PCM): Sometimes the functions of the Engine Control Unit and transmission control unit (TCU) are combined into a single unit called the Powertrain Control Module.
- Seat Control Unit
- Speed control unit (SCU)
- Telematic control unit (TCU)
- Transmission control unit (TCU)
- Brake Control Module (BCM; ABS or ESC)
- Battery management system

WEEK 4
Assalamualaikum.
This post is for progresses made on the fourth week of completing this project. In this post is about comparison between arduino and microcontroller.
ARDUINO
MICROCONTROLLER
A Microcontroller is a IC chip that executes programs for controlling other devices or machines. It is a micro (small size as its a Integrated Circuit chip) device which is used for control of other devices and machines thats why it is called 'Microcontroller'. It is a Microprocessor having RAM,ROM and I/O ports.

This post is for progresses made on the fourth week of completing this project. In this post is about comparison between arduino and microcontroller.
ARDUINO
Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs - light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message - and turn it into an output - activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can tell your board what to do by sending a set of instructions to the microcontroller on the board. To do so you use the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring), and the Arduino Software (IDE), based on Processing.

|
MICROCONTROLLER
|
Inexpensive - Arduino boards are relatively inexpensive compared to other microcontroller platforms.
|
Flexibility
- Microcontrollers are special types of processor chips that are very small
and somewhat flexible, due to their programmable nature.
|
Cross-platform - The Arduino Software (IDE) runs on Windows, Macintosh OSX, and Linux operating systems. Most microcontroller systems are limited to Windows.
|
Faster
Speed of Execution - since are fully integrated inside the
processor, i.e. a “computer on a chip” these devices operate at faster speeds
to execute instructions compared to general purpose microprocessors.
|
Simple, clear
programming environment - The Arduino Software (IDE) is easy-to-use for beginners, yet flexible enough for advanced users to takes advantage of as well.
|
Rigid
Once - microcontroller are programmed, typically they
cannot be reprogrammed, if microcontrollers are controlled by Read-Only
Memory(ROM) only rather than Random Access Memory (RAM)

WEEK 3
Assalamualaikum.
This post is for progresses made on the third week of completing this project.
In this week. I’ve made a research about galvanic skin resistance (GSR). Galvanic skin response (GSR) is a method of measuring the electrical resistance of the skin. It is also known by many other names such as electrodermal response (EDR), psychogalvanic reflect (PGR), or skin conductance response (SCR). In fact EDR is broader field, of which GSR is only one part. EDR deals with changes in electrical properties of human skin on account of the subject’s physiological state.

For this project, GSR is an electronic resistance meter, just like an ohmmeter, and when it is properly calibrated, it can measure these subtle (fine) differences in skin resistances. The GSR is highly sensitive to emotions of the subject. Emotions such as fear, anger, startle response (shock), orienting response and sexual feelings are all among the emotions which may produce similar GSR responses. In fact GSR is one of the key instruments in polygraph used for lie detection.
The objectives of my study are as follows:
Objectives of Study
- To introduce a method to detect problem from human skin.
- To make the monitoring process faster and efficient in term of life.
- To make the monitoring process become easier since it use electronic system.

WEEK 2
Assalamualaikum.
Thank you.
This post is for progresses made on the second week of completing this project.
In week 2, I was searching for a supervisor for my Final Year Project. I’ve decided to search for lecturer that are still has a quota for the student to be under his/her supervision. Then I choose Dr Ahmad Sabry Bin Mohamad which is also my subject’s lecturer to be my supervisor. By choosing him as my supervisor, I think it is easy for me to see him and discuss with him about my FYP progress.
Dr Sabry showed me the titles that can be taken under his supervision. I was interested in one of the titles which is 'e-Health of Emergency Smart Car Steering Wheel'. For the basic information, this project is about the health care when driving.
Dr Sabry also suggested an some idea for this project and asks me to do some research about the Galvanic Skin Resisntance and Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in car system

WEEK 1
Assalamualaikum.
This post is for progresses made on the first week of completing this project.
The first week basically is about the briefing of the Final Year Project 1. The briefing was conducted in TTL 2 and the attendance of all the student that are taking the FYP 1 was compulsory. The conclusion about the briefing, below are the list of notes that I’ve made;
- Introduction
- Objectives
- Scope of projects
- Project Assessment
- Title selection
- Submission date of project
Students are required to carefully select the title of the project. For degree students, the title must reflect the capability and knowledge level of a degree student. Students may select a title that is offered by lecturers (FYP supervisors) or come out with own ideas.
That is all for Week 1. Thank you.
